#Booktok is quite a thing, isn't it? Since it came into popularity during the pandemic year, it has increasingly taken a place in the marketing plans of Publishing firms as well as in the strategies of independent authors. Books that were hitherto obscure became global bestsellers by the sheer power of the harsh tag.
I may not be entirely wrong to say that authors like Sarah J. Maas, Rebecca Yarros and Taylor Jenkins Reid owe a lot of their success to booktok. Every writer with a new release since 2020 has caught themselves wondering what to do to make their book catch the harsh tag fire and be carried into global bestselling with millions of readers using it. But I don't think any one of them have found that purely scientific formula that assures on of definite results with the god of social media algorithm.
This brings me to the conversation I will be having with Honey Novick this Sunday. We are both non-GenZ authors who have tried to make this thing work for us to carrying degrees of success. We will share our stories, compare notes and talk about our experiences with social media and booktok. You may find you learn a thing or two. You may have better success than we do and be kind enough to join to share your story. Or you may just have questions we may be able to answer or not.
When we go live by 6:15pm, it won't be us sharing the ultimate formular, rather, you will find two clueless authors both wondering aloud, "How the Hell Does it Work?"
